REPUGNANCIA
Inminencia Del Fin
(Putrescense Records)

According to the biography printed in the liner notes, REPUGNANCIA was active and well connected in the Peruvian as well as Chilean scenes, playing with the likes of MORTEM, DISINTER and ANAL VOMIT among others. Although material clearly existed from the mid 80s until the band’s final end in 1999, it appears this 7" is the only official worldwide recording of the band’s material outside of the old tape trading scene. Considering how limited many reissues of old Death Metal bands recordings actually are, REPUGNANCIA remains quite an underground band. Only the very curious are likely to encounter their music. As to the music itself, it too is of an obscure nature. The blackness of the riffs and primitive drumming lend it a sense of ancient things, or even primordial things. It also has a tendency to blur the line between Death and Black Metal, though with a clear emphasis on primitive, ugly Death Metal. One song in particular, the title track, ‘Inminencia Del Fin’, tows the line between what counts as a Death or Black Metal song and the guitars especially push that impression. The drumming on ‘Dios Del Caos’ gives the song the bones of a Death Metal track whereas the guitars steer the song into Black Metal territory. In some cases Death and Black Metal aren’t so different and this is definitely one of those. www.myspace.com/repugnancia
