“Long Live The Rot” is the the second full length album released by the international Death Metal band ROTPIT. The band is formed by Jonny Pettersson, a well known Swedish guitarist and bassist that has been working with many underground bands like WOMBBATH and MASSACRE, just to name the most important ones. In addition, the line-up is completed by the German singer Ralf Hauber from REVEL IN FLESH and the drummer Erik Barthold. The new ROTPIT album follows the previous works from these guys, thus a simple recipe of old school Death Metal. The sound is pretty good and the result is very conservative. Nothing original, but, you know, that’s not the aim when we talk about the new wave of old school Death Metal. Slow tempos, claustrophobic parts with a doomy touch and some accelerations here and there. The fast sections aren’t extremely speedy, but are always focused on cadenced and monolithic rhythms. The main influences are the majority of the old school gurus: AUTOPSY, BOLT THROWER, INCANTATION, ENTOMBED, BENEDICTION etc. The gloomy sections are able to reach the heaviness of bands like DISMA. The concept is based on gory and putrefactive images, titles and lyrics. If the drumming doesn’t impress in terms of brutality and technique, the strongest points of the product are the deep growlings and the morbid riffs. In conclusion, this album produced by the German label War Anthem Records is a good example of old school Death Metal from the 21st century: an honest offer for fans of the genre. www.facebook.com/rotpit666, www.facebook.com/waranthemrecords
