I guess there is only a few real Grindcore maniacs who do not already have Finnish ROTTEN SOUNDS’ masterly “Murderworks” in their collection, but those who could not get it yet because of the weak distribution now defunct Necropolis Records provided for this release can call themselves lucky now, because Relapse chose to reissue the album. Recorded in 2001 by Miezko Talarczyk (R.I.P.) and originally released in 2002 “Murderworks” is a highly aggressive, deadly piece of Grindcore violence with a typical buzzing Swedish sound, traditional growling, hateful screaming and a consistent and convincing song-writing that should delight fans of NAPALM DEATH, RELEVANT FEW and of course NASUM. The four bloodcovered freaks of ROTTEN SOUND have created a furious, traditional and extremely intense piece of Grindcore anyone into the aforementioned bands should not miss! As a bonus this reissue features also two live videos of ‘Seeds’ and ‘Strongman’ and an official video clip of ‘Targets’. If you already have this album it’s superfluous to purchase it again, but if you didn’t do that yet there is no way around this murderously brutal assault! www.rottensound.com www.relapse.com.

It seems to me that the previous “Still Psycho” MCD will most likely remain the only release from these Finnish sickos that I enjoyed quite a bit. Unfortunately their new full length “Murderworks” is way more Hardcore / Grind / Crust influenced again and in terms of the extremity and intensity partly reminds me on their countrymen IMPALED NAZARENE. What you get is 14 tracks, all of them with short one-word-titles exclusively, performed in less than 30 minutes… This should already give you an idea of what to expect here. Too bad that ROTTEN SOUND avoid to incorporate slower parts most of the time as they come across a lot more crushing than their usual highspeed erruptions. Just like the MCD, this new CD also comes with additional video footage. This time it’s three tracks (‘Targets’, ‘Seeds’ and ‘Strongman’) that probably got filmed at one particular ROTTEN SOUND show as they look pretty similar. If you like it fast’n’furious and your musical taste is not limited to Death and Black Metal exclusively, this might be something for you to check out.
