Bearing in mind the ultimate talent in tracking down crap and garbage, the persons behind Neon Knights (ex-Last Episode) have shown until today, and I only like to remind you have such hopefuls of German Black Metal like MYSTIC CIRCLE, ANDRAS, ISEGRIM, AEBA and dozens more who have emerged from that label, I must admit that SANCTIMONIUS ORDER are better than the aforementioned bands but still nothing that does stand out or anything. While I would have thought that the trend to clone Swedish Black Metal may have vanished in favour of Norwegian Black Metal this three-piece still proves me wrong, this is second division Swedish Black Metal as pure as possible: the verse-rhythm and melody of the first song is more or less stolen from DARK FUNERAL, reminiscences from e.g. DAWN or DISSECTION are to be found in nearly every corner and the sound is as clinical, Mr. Tägtgren himself could not have done it much better. Sure, this is well-performed and here and there are some nice ideas, the melodies are sometimes really catchy (the end of ’13 Acres Of Hell’), but I honestly don’t know if we still need some albums like this.
