The band name is the Latin word for “murder of Székelys” and stands for a massacre committed against a Romanian minority in 1764 under Maria Theresa, the female ruler of the Habsburg dominions (Austria, Hungary, Croatia and some more). It is quite an interesting story, but this is not the History Channel (or at least only the Metal History Channel). For more than ten years this Hungarian band is active by now and they already published both demo and split-release (with country mates FUNEBRE), three EPs and one full-length (“Utolsó Vágta Az Univerzumban", 2009). The band name dates 250 years back in history, whereas the music originates just about 20 years ago. Norway, Black Metal, BURZUM. No more words needed, even the album title “Hosszú Út Az Örökkévalóságba” (translated “Long Way To Eternity”) sounds like a BURZUM title. Accordingly the Hungarian language has the same mysterious sound like Norwegian words, at least if you are not speaking such language. Needless to point out the typical guitar sound, mid-tempo pounding drums, the gloomy, depressive, grim and vicious atmosphere. Regarding the vocals I am a little bit undecided. Not that emblematic shrieks this Black Metal style is known for, more some kind of gargling mixture between speaking and singing. Definitely unique, but I simply do not like it. Just a personal animosity which I can not really explain. So if one likes the above mentioned style of music, it is definitely worth to take a listen. If you do not like Black Metal in general take at least a look at the cover artwork, which was drawn by the (more or less) well-known artist Shaun Beaudry. Unquestionably an eye-catcher! www.facebook.com/pages/siculicidium/294107330600018, www.sunandmoonrecords.com
