The Swedish scene owes an awful lot to Chris Reifert and his efforts in AUTOPSY and ABSCESS. There wouldn’t have been much of a scene without him. But there is a danger in attributing the Swedes’ musical prowess to one band, or a group of bands because it detracts from their highly original songwriting. SINNERS BURN belong to the newly revitalized scene in Sweden spearheaded by bands like NOMINON, KATALYSATOR, DEGIAL, EVISCERATED and TRIBULATION. The band has clearly done its homework. Their Death’n’Roll (?? – Frank) is directly traceable to UNLEASHED, ENTOMBED and ABSCESS. It’s a recipe of influences that produces no less than Swedish Death of the highest quality. We’re all familiar with the much plagiarized Death’n’Roll formula, but no matter the number of times it’s heard, there’s still something undeniably cool about it.
