SOLAR DAWN
Equinoctium
(Mighty Music)
34:41min

SweDEATHrash with a slight scent of Black Metal. SOLAR DAWN’s first full length (well… 35 minutes) turns out to be quite enjoyable. Of course many people will ask themselves: why yet another IN FLAMES clone? Well, it’s not that bad at all! Christian Älvestam’s vocals are a little more extreme than what we usually get within this genre’s borders and the melodies don’t sound like MAIDEN anyway. Instead, the band’s style is quite a bit darker, almost strange. SOLAR DAWN obviously triy to find an approach of their own and to some extend they succeed. “Equinoctium” was produced by Tommy Tägtgren and it features a short solo by Peter. All in all the music isn’t that spectacular but it’s good fun and IN FLAMES or HYPOCRISY fans waiting for their heroes’ new outputs might check out SOLAR DAWN in case you consider 35 minutes to be enough stuff for one album. Available through Candlelight Records in America.
