First I thought of starting this review by comparing SÖLICITÖR with other female-fronted (Speed) Metal bands, but then again it’s far too simplistic to focus on the sex of any of the band members. Let’s cut straight to the chase instead and listen to their sound! They do kind of share their style with SAVAGE MASTER (that thought about female-fronted bands again?), but unlike their colleagues from Kentucky, Seattle-based SÖLICITÖR put more of a Speed Metal edge into their otherwise also rather traditional music, being a lot faster and less melodic. Thus, they have found their very own niche between two ends of the spectrum. On the one hand, they are paying homage to bands that started out before the more extreme subgenres of Heavy Metal developed, whereas on the other hand they can be clearly distinguished from other ‘young’ bands, who leave out the melodic bits, add even more velocity to their music, and can clearly be considered Speed or even Thrash Metal. An example for the former, more old school variant is ‘Speed Tyrant’ (the best song of the record in my opinion), which is clearly paying tribute to the mighty JUDAS PRIEST. As far as the lyrics in particular are concerned, ‘Execution Squad’ is pointing at bands such as MANOWAR and SODOM. The latter option becomes apparent when listening to ‘Vulture Command’ and ‘Killer For Hire’, which remind me of all-female Speed / Thrash outfit JENNER from Serbia. “Sölicitör / All Debts On Death” is a significant summary of all the band’s efforts delivered from their foundation in 2018 up until 2022, minus songs from their full-length debut “Spectral Devastation” but including their first demo and the first two EPs. The last two songs, demo versions of ‘Nightstalker’ and ‘Speed Tyrant’, still sound rather raw and hungry, but already show the way this promising band would head down later. Throughout the record, you get a fast, innovative sound and a lot of skilled musicianship, with German-sounding ‘umlauts’ MOTÖRHEAD style topping off the band name. Enough said, “Sölicitör / All Debts On Death” can be considered a worthy compilation and SÖLICITÖR’s music is definitely a powerful brand of Heavy and Speed Metal!
