SÖLICITÖR
Spectral Devastation

I had already been very much impressed with SÖLICITÖR’s 2019 EP, and this debut album doesn’t disappoint in the least. This is Heavy Metal on speed, totally embedded in the musical values of the old killer bands of the eighties. I listen to the chorus of songs like ‘Heartbreaker’ or the speedfest ‘Specters Of War’ and this could be right out of an old Mausoleum Records vinyl. The songs are beautifully done, with a lot of variation, riffing, frantic speedy soloing, busy drumming, and a female vocalist full of power and attitude. Her vocal delivery, too, comes right out of the eighties. She is very melodic and feminine, but full of grit and strength. Her voice together with this specific kind of Speed Heavy Metal, springing from the American Metal of old, unavoidably brings to mind albums by HELLION, CHASTAIN or BLACKLACE, but the quality alone makes SÖLICITÖR a force of their own. You can listen to song after song from beginning to end finding things to hook you in all the time. Songs like ‘Terminal Force’ will find you enthralled following with your ears everything the guitars are doing. Or sometimes they will surprise you with hints like the beginning of ‘Grip Of The Fist’ that for a split-second there almost sounds like Death Metal. All this with lyrics about Metal, leather and hellfire. The more times I listen to this, the more I enjoy it, like back in the good old days. It’s a pleasure to see some amazing Heavy Metal bands with female singers showing up in recent years both in Europe and in the USA (at least), and SÖLICITÖR are one of the best. And this is one of the best albums I heard this year! Heavily recommended! More about SÖLICITÖR at www.facebook.com/solicitor.speedmetal, get the album from www.gatesofhellrecords.com
