Bleak melancholic Black Metal from the dark forgotten woods of Hungary. SOLUS is a one man band lead by D, a master of putting grey thoughts and emotions to melodies and ritualistic patterns. The driving force of this demo is the cold and gripping melodies, the three real tracks on this release are a tour de force of catching coldness leading the tracks forward, while keeping you in check with intriguing, small, developments and a massive atmosphere. Simplistic droning patterns keeps the bottom rolling, while the cold guitar gently weeps on top, together with the grim, very fitting and emotive vocals. The actual songs are bound together by synth pieces, of the better kind, they actually make sense here and add to the atmosphere and the bleak melancholy and longing the overall atmosphere of this release possesses. Is the music on the demo original?
