“Have a nice life – see you never” Hah? Never trust any musicians! These were the last words from Ville of SENTENCED on one of their last shows. And what do I have here? A new SENTENCED album? What? This is not SENTENCED but STILL IT CRIES? Sorry, got it wrong! While listening to this 3rd album of STILL IT CRIES I often have to think on SENTENCED even though the band still doesn’t reach the originality and uniqueness of them. One thing I wonder about is that they still describe themselves as Gothic Death Metal, Gothic perhaps, but I hardly discover Death Metal elements here at all. Perhaps it’s because of the vocals from their singer Matthias Kupka, don’t ask me. His voice, in fact, is the only thing which needs improvement. The music here is very good, the acoustic parts, the solos, the melody lines, the sound, everything is cool, but the voice could be better. Well, if you are a fan of SENTENCED (starting from the “Down” – era) I can recommend this album to you. I definitely will keep an eye on them as I’m sure, with a little improvement, especially the vocals) they could be a good follower, but no replacement, of SENTENCED.
