SULPHUR
Cursed Madness

Osmose Productions started at the forefront of the very late 80s – early 90s scene with some of the most amazing releases ever heard, some of those bands are still around and strong, others just faded into obscurity. I’m not sure if it is just me but listening to the latest releases of this label I honestly couldn’t find anything worth of attention or even good enough to spend money on a purchase. With SULPHUR I can safely say that they are trying to regain their old faithful customers or at least make up for their past failures. SULPHUR hails from Norway, are comprised of ex – ENSLAVED / ex – AETERNUS members that got together around 2000 and have previously released two demos that no one cared for up to now. Indeed, the label did a smart move signing them given their potential and good sense to create pretty decent Death / Black Metal. I wouldn’t venture to say they are pretty original or ground-breaking given the obvious ZYKLON / EMPEROR influence but they surely are on the right path to shine by their own light in the near future. In this album you will witness a band mostly dwelling in the mid to fast tempos with very technical meets melodic riffing and interesting lead guitar work. One thing to point out is the outstanding drum work that is the element that in my opinion breaths life into the compositions, I’m not pretty sure Erik (ex – AETERNUS) actually played in the album but given the god-like execution I wouldn’t be surprised he is the to blame! Very good but not essential, still one of the best few albums Osmose has to offer lately. Contact the band at: www.myspace.com/sulphur666.
