TRIOXIN
Repugnance Factory

TRIOXIN comes from Norway and they don’t play Black Metal, which is the style generally associated with that specific country. Also, this demo tape was originally released in 2004. After the band split up, members went onto bands such as SPAWN OF POSSESSION, BLOOD RED THRONE and DEEDS OF FLESH, to name a few. Also, two members of TRIOXIN (Flemming Gluch and Daniel Olaisen) went on with the band under a different name, COBOLT 60 and so far they have released two albums. So yeah, this is one curious review for yours truly. But the most curios thing here is TRIOXIN’s style of Metal. They play a heavy yet groovy mix of Thrash and Industrial Metal. The whole thing reminded me of BAROPHOBIA’s (Mårten Hagström’s and Tomas Haake’s pre – MESHUGGAH band) material. Which is not bad, since we are talking about a 12 yeard old demo tape. The early MESHUGGAH and WATCHTOWER influences are also undeniable. Production wise, the sound is typical for the time and the band’s style: clear, heavy, punchy and edgy, which fits the music perfectly. The vocal style uses both low grunts and high screams. And I may say, it’s one of the aspects that I would highlight off "Repugnance Factory". The song structures are a bit too hacked and the constant stop / riff / play / stop / riff / play process is somewhat abused. Nonetheless, the 3 tracks here have some really catchy riffs and some awesome break downs. Great stuff if you do enjoy this type of Metal. I am just left to wonder what would’ve become of TRIOXIN if they were still playing today. You can find more info about the band here: www.metal-archives.com/bands/trioxin/18793
