I will start off by saying I’m not a huge fan of technical Metal. Granted I totally respect the musicianship involved and it’s something I could never achieve myself, but sometimes some bands lose that basic groove or rhythm and the songs themselves get lost to my ears. UNREAL OVERFLOWS is a completely new band to me and as I listened to this I can say for the most part it’s not too bad. There is a heavy DEATH post “Human” era happening here along with your mainstays of later day PESTILENCE and perhaps CYNIC and ATHIEST as well. Now besides the excellent musicianship, the structure of the songs is kind of bland. The vocals are an unvaried blackish-type snarl and do not add much emphasis to the songs or lyrics. The songs tended to blend together where all the start-stop riffing and guitar flourishes and such don’t show much distinction after a while. The production, while clear and concise, is a bit bland. Not enough bottom end to add more depth to the overall sound. I hate to come across as such a harsh critic, given my previous admissions, I know there are obviously fans of this style and their is plenty of ear candy for those that appreciate it, but maybe those as well will see some of my points. www.facebook.com/unreal.overflowsmetal, www.facebook.com/greatdanerecords
