VENUS TORMENT
The Overdose Of Suffering

VENUS TORMENT is an one man army hailing from Chile and after four years with three demo releases, Patricio Spalinger finally has put together his first full-length in form of “The Overdose Of Suffering” which gets released by the fine German label Iron Pegasus Records, that has a good taste in choosing some fine hand-picked artists to add to their fine roster. Patricio, who might be known to some people from his other cool band RIPPER, presents here his own dirty version of old school Thrash / Death Metal in the vein of old KREATOR, SEPULTURA or SODOM. The twelve songs are a really enjoyable trip back into the mid 80s and are full of talent and love for the old scene back then. Apart from the good and uncompromising songwriting, also Patricio’s talent needs to be mentioned, who seems to have played all the instruments on his own and really seems to be full of ideas which get paired with the necessary musical skills to create some really killer tunes. The riffing is tight and precise, fast and always brutal with brutal thrashy vocals and good and tight drumming. The production is kept raw and sounds old school but is very clear and powerful at the same time so perfect for this brutal material. The songs are tight and fast, straight to the point and really enjoyable to listen to as they really kick some serious ass. VENUS TORMENT is another example that old school styled Thrash Metal still can sound fresh and unused.
