F.D.A. Records has an ability to dig up grim wormridden Death Metal from the depths of the dark German mulch. This, so far, secret 5 piece is delivering raw and dirty grinding Death Metal, driven by some effective chainsaw riffing, the crunchy and nice Boss HM-2 sound, just as we all grew to like it, during the beginning of the nineties, some good effective blasting drumwork and an aggressive growling scream. The sound might be a tad rotten, though the grimey production fits this release so damn good. As it all muds around in the mid-area, the guitars suddenly pop up, then we get a lead, hidden below the surface, which actually is quite effective, and then a clean blastbeat and so on. Quite well made! I had used a few spins to get under the skin of this demo, at first it sounds like your typical off the mill old school Death Metal band, though as you get below the layers and obvious sources of inspiration or homage, the hooking riffs really start to latch onto you, the smashing rhythm patterns and the quite good vocals as well. Quite an integrated demo from these guys. This will be an exciting entity to follow into the dark future. Enter the abusement park: www.facebook.com/vomitspell, www.fda-records.com

With a moniker like VOMIT SPELL I was expecting some extremely evil sounding Black / Death and this bunch of bestial bastards definitely didn’t disappoint and lived up to my expectations. This German band has delivered a deadly attack of savage blackened Death Metal / Grind, which is definitely on the rough and ready side. There’s quite a lot of variation going on tempo wise, with the band going from all out blast beat propelled uptempo parts, to slower doomy passages. But the emphasis is most definitely on the faster side of the tempo spectrum, with those aforementioned blast beats making regular appearances throughout these 7 sermons of morbidity. There is a definite strong punky / Grind element which is very D Beat in delivery but overall their sound leans more towards the Black / Death side of things. The vocals are vomited forth in a savage semi growl / screamed way, like some beast spewing up abominations from some deep dark abyss. The production is suitably murky and rough, but the riffs cut through the filth clearly with furious frenetic energy. The band are not adverse to producing some catchy hooks amongst the hellish chaos with the slower riffs / parts standing out. A one for those who like their Death Metal / Grind covered in grotesque grime. Malevolently murky and malicious. More info you will find at: www.facebook.com/vomitspell, www.fda-records.com
