Apart from the song ‘Those Who Sold The World’, released as a single in December of last year, included on this new album and essentially after nearly six years since their previous full-length, the Italian Heavy Metal act VULTURES VENGEANCE returns with “Dust Age”, their second full-length offering. Despite that “gap”, here the band’s steady evolution is clear, and they’ve taken everything that made their earlier material so compelling and refined it into a more polished, but no less potent, package. For me VULTURES VENGEANCE has that ability of blending Epic Metal with a darker, almost mysterious atmosphere, and this album is not an exception. Here, VULTURES VENGEANCE is able to get that balance between classic Heavy Metal riffing and a touch of progressive complexity that gives each song a certain depth that you don’t always find in the genre. Vocally, I liked the way Tony T. Steele scales back, giving each song the emotional depth it needs, complementing the instrumentation and putting everything in the right place. The album’s eight tracks each stand out in their own way. From the galloping rhythms to the more atmospheric moments, the band showcases their ability to write songs that have both weight and substance. The transitions between faster, heavy sections and slower, more melodic passages are always here, ensuring that the album never feels monotonous and there’s enough variety of moods to keep you hooked from start to finish. VULTURES VENGEANCE is not just playing Heavy Metal, they’re like creating an entire world within each song. It’s a remarkable feat for a band to achieve, but VULTURES VENGEANCE does so with ease. Their music doesn’t just hit hard; it resonates. It’s a perfect mix of old school and something that feels uniquely their own. I see VULTURES VENGEANCE as one of the bands with more projection in the modern Heavy Metal scene in Italy. “Dust Age” doesn’t just live up to the standard, it pushes the envelope even further. If you haven’t been in touch with this Italian force, now is the time to get on board. VULTURES VENGEANCE is extending the well known Italian underground scene, and “Dust Age” is just the beginning of what’s sure to be a long and successful journey. Check them out!
