The Polish underground Metal scene has always been very prolific. Not only in terms of numbers, but definitely in quality. It is not surprising to me to be completely delighted whenever I have the opportunity to either go back and play the classics or when a new gem comes in to my ears. And I was very curious about what this first full-length “Hellven” was going to be, as it was categorized as a Post Black Metal one, a genre I’m not that close, if I’m honest. So, I had to give it I try! Fascinating! This is my best conclusion: fascinating! From the very beginning with that intro that immediately took me back to the song ‘Raining Blood’ by SLAYER. Maybe because I had been listening to the “Reign In Blood” album lately and it was very easy for me to associate them. So, two “raining” tracks, one after the other, were kind of connecting the dots. Amazing! And I think I may elaborate on this, but I’ll keep it simple, I instantly felt connected with this album! ZØRZA had released the “IEI” EP last year in June as an independent production. An EP that was predicting what this first full-lenght “Hellven” was going to be. Because even when they have some areas in difference, they still hold the exact same spirit the album was going to present. Nine tracks that will tremble with anguish, resonant feelings and certainly a Black Metal vibe that will tie you up to the ambient of the album until its last second. Definitely a great one! www.facebook.com/zorza.pbm, www.facebook.com/godzovwar
