We can all agree that we love things that are dependable and familiar. We know what we like, and if it’s something we are familiar with, well, all the better. Take our choices in Death Metal. We have those everyday staples that we listen to continually without fail. Why? Because they are dependable and they hit that happy spot for us. I will tell you now CHAOSPIRACY will be just that for you all. Familiar and dependable (there is that word again). What you are going to hear are heavy doses of INCANTATION and CIANIDE and perhaps FATHER BEFOULED. You will get a form of “meat and potatoes” Death Metal that is very mid-paced, bordering on Doom in its pace. It can be plodding at times, so do not come in expecting a blastfest in any shape or form. The production for the most part is on point, with the bass being buried in the mix, but it adds its own fuzzy, distorted rumble to the proceedings. I did notice that with headphones, you can hear a bit more nuance, if that’s important to you. I will add that even at 24 minutes, it can all be a bit samey. There is just not enough variation or dynamics in the songwriting to commit to repeated listens. It is not terrible by any stretch of the word, but you may need to look elsewhere for your more captivating form of Death Metal. So, getting back to my original point. If you are accustomed to the routine and the usual and want that quick and easy fix of what you know, and don’t expect your mind to be blown, by all means, dive in. I will add that the band is new to the scene, and this being their first official release, so there is still plenty of time to expand. To understand that they have a good foundation and utilize it to build it into something greater. Perhaps at some point to be a force to be reckoned with. www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61559912774565, www.facebook.com/morbidchapelrecords
