On June 17, 2022 Svart Records will release a 2 CD / double vinyl compilation from Finnish old school Death Metallers THROMDARR entitled “Midwinter Frost – Complete Demo Tapes 1990-1997”. Back in 1989 guitarist Mika Kyöstilä, together with bassplayer / vocalist Ari “Ave“ Auvinen, formed NYMPHOMANIAC, a precursor to THROMDARR. They went through a line-up change and at first changed their name to NECROBIOSIS and in 1991 to THROMDARR. Their first demo “As A Wind Cries” ended up selling 500 copies. At the end of the millennium, the band signed a contract with Solistitium Records and released their debut album “NorthStorm Arrives” in 1998. This compilation will comprise of the following material. THROMDARR: “As A Wind Cries” (Demo 1992), “Winter Of Flames” (Demo 1993), “Silverthrone” (Demo 1995) and “Winds Of The Fall” (Demo 1997). NECROBIOSIS: “Consumed Tracks” (Demo 1990) and “Consume The Lifeless Cadaver” (Demo 1991). In February 2018, Antti Parviainen, founder and guitarist of defunct Finnish melodic Death Metallers CEREBRAL MIST died abruptly, leaving behind him six demos, which were to serve as the backbone of an upcoming album. In the summer of 2021 the band’s vocalist Antti Argillander, bassist Erno Venäläinen and current music producer Erno Sallinen started the production of an EP later to be named “Age Of Mist”. “The project was interesting due to the fact that everything needed to be arranged around Parviainen’s demo guitars”, Sallinen recollects. “No guitar tracks were re-recorded, unless absolutely necessary.” Argillander’s vocals were recorded by Elmo Kröger (also currently in KINGS OF GUILT) and the backing vocals were sung by NEVICATE’s Anni Kokkonen. The record was mixed and mastered by Joona Muistola of HAW Studios, and the cover art was drawn by Sinni Jensen. The EP will be released via Inverse Records today.
