"Archaeaeon", the debut full-length by Canada’s MITOCHONDRION, originally issued as a self-released CD and limited to 666 copies in 2008, will officially be reissued through Dark Descent Records. The album is now presented with a fuller sound thanks to a remaster by Colin Marston and comes complete with an eight-page layout on heavy duty matte stock to further enhance the archaic-like artwork. Swedish Death Metallers VOLTURYON have officially announced Alexander Högbom as the band’s new vocalist. Replacing Olle Ekman, Högbom is in for a baptism by fire as VOLTURYON performs with DEMONICAL on the Eastern Death Infernal Tour. Says VOLTURYON guitarist Andreas Olander about the new addition, "We’ve known Alexander for a while through his band SPASMODIC and his occasional guest appearances with us. His vocals impressed us from day one. It’s with great anticipation we look into the future." "I first made contact with VOLTURYON when they mailed me their promo-CD, "Blood Cure"," says Högbom. I was running a rock club in Ludvika by the name Cavum back then, and they wanted me to book a gig for them at the club. I listened to their promo and was really impressed, so I arranged a gig for them in August of 2008 in Ludvika. Ever since I have been a fan of VOLTURYON. After a few years with no further contact I received a text message from [drummer] Christian Netzell, wondering if I wanted to join the band and do the east-Europe/Baltic tour with them, and I said yes. It is quite an honor to have been chosen to do the vocals in Volturyon and to play with such skilled musicians." The Eastern Death Infernal Tour 2011 will run from October 26 to November 12, focusing mainly on Baltic and Eastern European territories. The fourth album by Polish Black / Death Metallers STILLBORN will be released on September 01, 2011 through Ataman Productions (with exclusive worldwide distribution by Pagan Records). The album is entitled "Los Asesinos Del Sur" (spanish for "Murderers from the South") and contains the following 10 songs: ‘Overture .966’, ‘Hymn Of Destruction’, ‘Diamonds Of The Last Water’, ‘Antonym’, ‘Son Of The Holy Motherfucker’, ‘Blood And Dust’, ‘Kot Wolanda’, ‘Los Asesinos Del Sur’, ‘Stillborn Ii (Singularities Of The Ordinary Vulgar Boor)’ and ‘Whore Of The Whores’. Polish Black Metallers CHRIST AGONY have completed work on their ninth album, "NocturN", for a fall release via Mystic Production. The CD was recorded over a two-week period at Studio X in Olsztyn, Poland with engineer Szymon Czech. The cover artwork and the graphic design for the follow-up to 2008’s "Condemnation" were handled by BlackTeamMedia. Session drums on the effort were performed by Zbigniew Robert "Inferno" Prominski (BEHEMOTH, AZARATH). According to a press release, "NocturN" will consist of "one long suite, divided into eight heavy-as-hell opuses." Veteran Metal journalist Andres Padilla, has been working intensely on his new book UNDERGROUND NEVER DIES (UND!) which will feature the most vivid collection of Thrash / Death flyers from all over the world, including North America, Europe and South America on approximately 200 pages, designed in the old fashioned copy / paste way. The author of "RETROSPECTIVA AL METAL CHILENO (1983-1993)", the first book that graphically depicts the story of the Chilean Thrash Metal scene, responsible editor for several fanzines from late 80s, and editor of Grinder Magazine since 1993, is currently looking for contributors who want to help this initiative in order to complete the most respected collection of Thrash Metal / Death Metal flyers from the 80s and early 90s. Secondly, there will be a part in the book that is dedicated to the phenomenom "underground". "Underground" is a very used concept in Metal", comments Padilla, "it is a simple word that we see everywhere, but nobody has ever really explained to us what it really means. After several years of research and interviews with the most significant characters of the music scene, UND! will be the perfect tool to answer this question. It may seem simple, but it is not. Where does it go? How did it start? What does it mean to us? How have many of the interviewed actors adapt it as a philosophy of life?" The book is planned to be released in a limited version together a 12" compilation LP. Unlike Padilla’s previous book, RETROSPECTIVA AL METAL CHILENO (1983-1993), UND! will be written in English.
