I guess the Swedish underground is pretty much alive again, especially US-inspired Death Metal is almost booming. Bands like SPAWN OF POSSESSION, IMMERSED IN BLOOD or 9TH PLAGUE perfectly prove this in my eyes. Although the latter differ from their Death Metal comrades by musically referring not to SUFFOCATION, but the almighty, once gods of occult Death Metal, MORBID ANGEL. And well, 9TH PLAGUE do a damn good job on their first official demo “Spreading The Satanic Gospel”. Great riffs, conclusive song structures, great vocals and an excellent sound make this unholy offering a valuable demo effort. This is definitely nothing for people looking for individuality or an original sound, but since the latest MORBID ANGEL releases got weaker and weaker, one should consider to check out some of their worthy, young inheritants. 9TH PLAGUE are certainly one of them and deserve your support for sure!!!
