ANGELSCOURGE
In The Realm Of The Horned

Black Metal can be good – or Black Metal can be bad. It’s as simple as that – with any other genres of Metal or just music in general. Fuck all the goddammit ‘cliches for a moment at least. ANGELSCOURGE, this 3-headed vicious and infernal sounding horde from the ex-capital of Finland, Turku, clearly finds its way to the first-mentioned box; so easily yet effortlessly moving, furiously raging Black Metal this is. The roots of ANGELSCOURGE’s Black Metal are definitely in the Swedish style of early 90s Black Metal; in those times when bands like DISSECTION, UNANIMATED, MÖRK GRYNING, SACRAMENTUM and the likes, started making themselves known among the underground extreme Metal bands, by a bunch of their demo and EP releases. The melody, was always important for these types of acts – no matter how vile, fast or brutal you managed to sound on your releases but there was always a nice load of certain catchy melodies involved within their stuff anyway. That’s also the case with ANGELSCOURGE. The guys have obviously taken their time to cook their pitch-black ingredients of an unceremoniously bled blood and twice vomited venom without any specific time frame; so album-ready they do sound like on this 3-track effort of theirs. Any further analysis about this very much nut-kicking icon-smasher would be as unnecessary as giving a drum lesson to Dave Lombardo. 5 horns up for these lads!
