Nebulas Of Self-Desecration

UTTERTOMB are an old school Death Metal band from Santiago, Chile. “Nebulas Of Self-Desecration” is their first ever full length, having taken 15 years to get to this point in time. UTTERTOMB tends to the fans of the genre who’ve taken up refuge in the murky pits of disgust and unforgiving riffs. The band simply focuses on one thing and one thing alone, writing absolutely downtuned, thick riffs that exist in the same plane as the netherworld. The band combines Trey Azagtoth’s approach to solos with SLIMELORD’s love of the disgusting depths. The resulting sound is absolutely phenomenal, dragging through the swampy filth of day-to-day, UTTERTOMB do not waste a second on this record. The entire band moves together as a dirt monster rarely giving you an opportunity to breathe. The atmosphere is delightful and dirty. This should be on everyone’s radar and I hope you will also get a copy. The chaotic atmosphere hinges on a delicate sense of melody that keeps digging deeper by the second. I am incredibly delighted to hear this record, every song has a unique identity which in itself is a big boost to the quality of the record. Track # 3 ‘Graceless Thaumatury’ stands taller amongst the other swamp monsters on this album. There are equal parts of GORGUTS and FOSSILIZATION worship which are brought together amidst the brilliant songwriting capability which sounds bloody amazing. It’s like marching with a chainsaw and simply decimating everything in the way in one swift move! UTTERTOMB have definitely taken their own sweet time in putting together their first full length but they’ve also ensured that they’ve cut no corners. The band literally fires all cylinders with no regards to safety. The muddy and raw sounds of the band are further amplified by how well this album has been produced. I am absolutely delighted to be able to review this release. If you like Death Metal to any degree you owe it to yourself to check this release out. Every instrument has its own space but doesn’t overshadow any others. The deep authoritative bass tone stands out on the record! The haunting vocals do justice to the brilliant riffs and finally, all of it put together is a delight to be listening to!
