ARATRON
The Recovery

ARATRON are somehow the jinxes of the Dutch Death Metal scene. Any time they were ready to cause serious damage, massive line-up problems stopped them from getting really started. After the band was put on hold several times, the last remaining members Ronald (vocals) and Maurice (bass) decided to continue the band as a project with Maurice taking over the guitars, too. For this demo, they got help from session drummer Oscar and a guy called Michel, who did the guitar solos. Hopefully things will now take a turn for the better, since "The Recovery" is too fine to be a swan song for ARATRON. From the first note, their Thrash based Death Metal knows how to make my day. Somehow the five songs remind me of INCUBUS’ pretty underrated "Beyond The Unknown" album. Mainly it’s because the mix is pretty similar with the drums being in the fore. Also the guitars sounding like razors in the fast parts are very comparable. But the vocals are a little more Death Metal though. In 2013, sounds like these sound pretty refreshing, so there are enough reasons to give songs like the speed smasher ‘Imprisoned’ or the OBITUARY inspired ‘Cause Of Death’ a chance.
