Quite an interesting release we have here. You would be forgiven for thinking that, upon seeing the album cover, band name and song titles, we have yet another Boss HM2 guitar tone, by-the-numbers Swedeath release on our hands. Well, dear readers, you would only be partly right, maybe not even that much. Formed in 2021 in Finland, you have a fairly new band, and the members decided to throw everything to the wall and see what sticks. For the first few moments, you think this going to be typical and there are some moments, but just you wait. Granted, you will have some dashes of that Swedish Death Metal sound, you will also get a bit of SUFFOCATION, some of the intense Death Metal stylings of DEPRAVITY, snippets of the atmospheric elements of DRAWN AND QUARTERED, and maybe moments of CRIMINAL ELEMENT. So yeah, we got quite an amalgamation of sounds going on here, and for the most part, the band provides a pretty seamless auditory experience. The band blends all the aforementioned influences into their songwriting, and good or bad, it works. Some particular moments from the cross-genre pollination take the forefront at times, but I marveled at the fact that the overall dynamics come across quite well. If I have one (albeit minor) qualm is that I am not a huge fan of the brutal Slam Death pig squeals, and the vocalist emphasizes this tone more often than not, and it sort of grates on me after a bit. Again, I stress this is just me, and I know some fans will enjoy this fact. Production is spot on and the guitar tone is suitably ripping and again not just that typical guitar tone, but portrays all the tones quite amicably. So I give you these final words, that this could be seen as a “One Size, Fits All” type of Death Metal, and I’m sure any one fan will find something to take out of this release. www.facebook.com/ashentomb, www.facebook.com/everlastingspew
