I still don’t really get into rough and "primitive" Black Metal (which is what Last Episode seemed to concentrate on for quite a while) and therefore I always thought BELPHEGOR wouldn’t be my cup of tea at all. The latest output of these Austrian fellows, "Necrodaemon Terrorsatan" (Gee, what a bad title!) has now finally managed to prove my impression wrong: this is actually enjoyable mystic Death Metal with some always cool hints of MORBID ANGEL type of aggression. The only Black Metal elements on here probably are the satanic lyrical vibe as well as some bombastic dark atmosphere… apart from that, things actually stand fairly above the average technical skills of Central European Black Metal acts. These are 11 intense, fast songs with a great powerfully clean production, mostly growled vocals and quite original songwriting. I still don’t get into the lyrical ambitions on here (‘Vomit Upon The Cross’ or ‘Analjesus’, common’!!!) but musically this output is highly recommendable and actually manages to decently grow on me with every listening. Cool!
