Grindcore, Deathgrind, Goregrind. I’ve been following this particular sub-genre for the past decade and it never ceases to amaze me how many excellent and unique bands seem to emerge from every corner of our civilization. Taking the clues from household names like NAPLAM DEATH, BRUTAL TRUTH, TERRORIZER, this power-violence genre gives birth to many hidden gems around the globe; those keep blending all these subgenres to produce sick in the head and terrific sonic assaults. South America has been known on the international Metal stage primarily for its legendary Thrash acts, but in the past 15 years or so, this continent has pretty consistently produced Grindcore bands that are brutal, unique and criminally underrated. Names like HUTT, LXS JUGADXS, NARAYAMA are renowned, but rests are flat out ignored. Never dismantled by ignorance, BLOODFIEND, from Chile made a roar with their first demo “Act Of Profanation” released back in 2001, which can be described as a fanatic conjugation of bestial Black / Death and cavernous Grind Black Metal. But after that, they just vanished into the deep caverns and came back 17 years later with another demo named “Evil Mass Of Putrid Decay”, which was released in co-operation with Old Silver Productions (CD) and cassette / tape format released independently by the band. A year later, in 2019, this demo reissued by Unholy Domain Records and Visceral Circuitry Records, which comes with a pro printed cover and a black tape with sticker. BLOODFIEND are fronted by Abhorer (CARBONIZED CHURCH, DEMONIC RAGE, FUNERAL CHANT, RUINED, ex – WARFARE, ex – INFERNAL SLAUGHTER) and Sekker (EXCORIATE, FUNERAL CHANT, TEMPLE, ex – VERBIMUS) and together, in “Evil Mass Of Putrid Decay”, they have encapsulated 6 songs of obscure molestation, with a beastly running time of 11:05 minutes. Song titles like ‘Deep Abyss Demonic Beings’, ‘Fuck The Human Kind’, ‘Human Necrobeast’, ‘I Want To Eat Human Childs’ and ‘Bonemania Rotten Delight’, speak the horrid nature of the tape and express what sort of necrobestiality the Chileans trapped here. This morbidly bizarre, utterly disgusting, unkempt production should set them far apart from their contemporaries and they shall soon set for releasing full lengths to show their blistering capability of making sickening cacophony directly from the Chilean hell. “Evil Mass Of Putrid Decay” is totally recommended to fans of BLOOD, NUCLEAR DEATH and all bestial Death / Grind acts chock full of oddities.
