CARNAL GHOUL from Germany have been around for about 9 years now and “Back From The Vault” is their first full length. I’ve done a little reading up myself and I noticed that the original lead singer of the band, Sven Gross, passed away in 2021 due to cancer (RIP). Now, you might know Sven from his time spent in FLESHCRAWL, this is sad, I did not know of this. So, the band asked their friends to help them with the vocals and bloody hell, what a fantastic decision and a way to honor their fallen comrade! CARNAL GHOUL, this is what friends do to honor friends and you guys have done an incredible job here! Every single vocalist (a legend in their own right!) has delivered a phenomenal performance, the entire album is worth just listening to the variety of vocals that are on this album. I am really enjoying this slab of Death Metal, no, it is not the pinnacle of everything that’s out there but this is prime Death Metal that sits on a throne and looks down! The riffs are fierce, the rhythm section is relentless with vocalists on every single track ripping it apart by bringing in their own element to the sound. We have vocalists from absolute pioneers BENEDICTION, CREMATORY, ASPHYX, MASTER amongst others who lay down the attack one second after the other. I know, this isn’t your regular review of an album but CARNAL GHOUL have done a brilliant job here with the songwriting to accommodate all the guest vocalists and have put their best foot forward.
