CASKET
Ghouls Of Filth

Ok… I’m not going to mince words here. Five seconds into CASKET’s debut demo "Ghouls Of Filth" and I was in love with it. Everything I want out of raw, lo-fi Death Metal is a part of this release. From the hand-drawn cover (I love these types of covers), to the old school style of thundering guitars, CASKET delivers a consistent, fist-pumping collection of death, gore and putrescence. The opening track ‘Flesh Winter’ barrels through with demolishing guitars, pounding drums and angst-ridden vocals from the land of the dead. This track is the epitomy of everything I want out of Death Metal. ‘Ghouls Of Filth’ isn’t quite as destructive, but still provides a belief that this band understands the genre they are a part of. ‘Sadistic’ begins with a sample of someone discussing some form of cannibalistic behavior before CASKET dives head-first into a wave of sheer terror while not hesitating to rip out our entrails and stomp on them. The final track ‘Covered In Guts’ has a throbbing bass-line, chugging guitars, steady drumming and vocals that sound like his esophagus could shred at any moment. To any other Death Metal band new or experienced, please take note. THIS is Death Metal. THIS is what Metal lovers want to hear. CASKET pull no punches. They don’t overdo the gore or death themes simply to shock. They simply deliver. And that’s all I ever really ask for. More info at www.facebook.com/rancidcasket
