The already 12th issue of Brazil’s CRUSH THE CROSS zine is the first one which is entirely written in English. A wise decision if you ask me, considering that it finally can also be read by people across the globe now. Even though the editor’s English needs to be improved a little bit here and there, you will still easily understand how dedicated editor Samir really is to the deepest underground. This new edition includes a couple of interviews (PSICORRAGIA, WITCHCRAFT / OLD CRUCIFIX, GRAVEWARDS, DEMONIC HATE, DEMONIZED LEGION and FORGOTTEN PATH zine) and a KING DIAMOND live report and tons of reviews. What I really like about CRUSH THE CROSS is that you can discover a shitload of releases by bands that you probably have never heard of before. I personally quickly felt like a poser when I went through this issue, because I didn’t know most of the bands, not even by name. A great idea also is to add a review of a band’s release at the end of an interview or to publish a single question and answer with a band connected to certain reviews. The zine review section is also pretty impressive, since it features 39 zines and most of them even from South America. The visual side of CRUSH THE CROSS is plain and simple, but it fits to the overall underground charme of the zine. All in all a cool guideline to discover new bands the old school way.
