Anders Lundemark (KONKHRA) strikes back. For DAEMON he recruited Gene Hoglan (DARK ANGEL, DEATH…) and released quite an intense and aggressive Deathrash album that sometimes reminds me of SEPULTURA. Veryin-your-face, sometimes a little melodic as well (not the kind of melodies we expect from bands like IN FLAMES, though). Hoglan’s drumming helps this album a lot to make it sound alive: the first couple of songs seem to threaten you: if you switch off your stereo we’re gonna beat you up! So I didn’t. Instead, my mind frequently does half way through: somehow the songs don’t enter my brain – it’s just the same with KONKHRA: nothing too spectacular, instead a little too monotonous for my taste. I can imagine this being fun live because there is a lot of energy involved and maybe I might start liking this record afterwards. Right now I don’t.
