Span Of Aeons

DAETH DEAMON plays evil Death Metal! The intro ‘Deathspell Glacier’ takes us to a synth laden mountainscape, but the band immediately gets on track with ‘Extermination Ghost’, a three and a half minute track which bulldozes its way through the terrain. DAETH DEAMON do not waste a second here, the guitars sound thick and destructive. The rhythm section is bloody beautiful, they’re akin to Atlas carrying the world, but the only difference is DEATH DEAMON’s rhythm section is sprinting through the crowds with a chainsaw coupled with vocals that reverberate with all things pleasurable in Death Metal. Lightning quick solos add in the charm to the already tight delivery of the band. This is how Death Metal should be, no compromise, no wasting moments with nonsense, just an aural onslaught from start to finish with good instrumentation and fine production! ‘Feasting The Swines’ simply takes ahead the momentum and the band slowly start establishing their feet on the ground. Now, mind you, this isn’t a genre bending, world changing, apocalypse causing record but bloody hell, the band could surely play this at 10 during the apocalypse and their brothers in ANAAL NATHRAKH wouldn’t mind it a bit. Track 4, ‘Fall Of The Sulphur Angel’ would be my choice to play during the said apocalypse for the benefit of all art connoisseurs! All in all DAETH DEAMON have decided to present the world with the best way of approaching Death Metal and that’s head on with razor sharp delivery of heaviness sprinkled with uncompromising spirit destruction I like these lads, they should be phenomenal live and hopefully I get to see them in some dingy pub in Germany. “Span Of Aeons” is an engaging album from start to finish and if you’re a fan of Death Metal or any of it’s trillion sub-genres, check this record out. An ideal companion in the car or during meditation! Before I forget, I love that cover art, it’s reflective of everything underneath and more!
