DARK LUNACY
Live In Mexico City
(Eyescream / The Art / Self)
73:00min

Melodic Death Metal with keyboards and violins. Those words will be enough for me to take action and run far away from whatever band can be described with such style. Unless, it is DARK LUNACY. My admiration with the band comes from their first release “Devoid” which compromises of Death Metal with melody and the use of some orchestral parts in which violin plays at times an important role, but instead of sounding happy, this always sounds as they describe their style, dramatic. No clean vocals and the orchestral and violin parts are used with such success it is almost frightening. And the composition is just great. So, after 4 albums, and having a rabid following in Mexico, their presentation done on 03/03/2012 was filmed in a very professional multi-camera stage with magnificent sound. And it proves the band to be as effective on recording as they are live. First they do not go out playing in spikes and leather (ahhh…) but instead they choose an elegant suit and red tie, to add identity to their overall concept… Death Metal art… something I was quite not sure to embrace, but at the end of the video I was really convinced. They might be compared to ARCH ENEMY, AMON AMARTH or some others, but believe that not, they are on other level. And anyone having Andy (SADIST) in their line-up is sure to kill. The all regions DVD comes in a bundle pack that contains the very same songs on a CD. There are some good additions in the DVD such as the visit to Mexico’s Aztec Pyramids, as well as the behind scenes while preparing for the show. www.darklunacy.com, www.theartrecords.com, www.self.it
