Wow, this is already the fifth album from this Death Metal band from Switzerland, formed way back in 1996. As soon as the music started I can listen to a very present bass guitar. And the music turns out to be quite technical, reminding me of NECROPHAGIST or maybe some later DEATH, although it has a much more brutal style of vocals. The production values are also very good, probably a bit compressed sounding, but nothing that takes away the brilliant performance of the band. Very good guitar solos, and some very good riffs can be found here. Although as I said before the vocals are of the brutal Death Metal kind, and that means to be one-dimensional, they are not that bad and work with the music. The only minor detail I find in this band, and some other technical bands, are that the stop-start sections done continuous, giving the band a dangerous Deathcore sounding approach, although I am sure it was not the intention. Probably some more straightforward Death Metal fans find some technical or melodic passages and execution a bit difficult to swallow, but it is nothing bands like early SUFFOCATION did in some songs, so I suggest to give this a listen and if you like it, check out their past catalog as well. www.darkrise.ch, www.facebook.com/darkriseband, www.punishingrecords.com
