Come to think of it, why does neither Finland nor Norway give birth to more Death Metal bands? I mean, we’re so conscious on our Black Metal and Gothic Metal and Heavy Metal ( Finland ) that we should be able to spawn a really good Death Metal band. Yeah, look to Sweden . And now, with Death Du Jour it could be there’s something going on. This Finnish band give us four Death Metal tracks which all have the necessary ingredients to be a pleasant journey through death and destruction. Rather technical and a strong production make this more interesting than your average groovy Death Metal combo. Of course, there’s still room for improvements (there always is), and I think that Death Du Jour try to show too much in too short a time. I have paid carefully attention (read; headphones) to "Gamashinoch", but still I don’t remember a single note from the tracks. I think that’s their challenge for an eventual upcoming full-length, keeping it interesting and recollectable to a certain extent. As I told you, this is more interesting than the average Death Metal band because I feel that these four Death Metallers aim for an own identity, but need some aid and time to develop. As a lot of people say about Yngwie Malmsteen; high skills don’t make a song. Death Du Jour are definitely a band to look out for, and I’m certain there is more to come.
