This is the second EP effort by this English trio and all I have to say is that their stuff seriously kicks ass. The sound of DECEPTOR can’t be labelled so easy and that’s already a big plus. It clearly worships the glorious 80s but it is not a lame copy as the skills and performance of this three piece is remarkable and outstanding. Even the material on this EP sounds complex the band managed to present it rather catchy. The four tracks (plus two robotic voiced intros) are dynamic as Hell and are spiced with great guitar lines and superb licks ‘n’ leads – an really exceptional axe performance. The rhythm section does a great job as well. The four strings pulsate while the drums push the tunes permanently into the metallic battle. Just have a listen to the marvellous ‘Heatseeker’ and you know what I mean. An intelligent and top notch alloy of NWOBHM at its best, energetic Speed with class and a beefy Thrash Metal approach – all done with lot of passion and dedication. The excellent production effectively supports the squad’s mission as the sound of the mini album is organic, vital and full of power. It breathes the vibe of a long gone past but without sounding old fashioned. The vocals, with its wide repertoire of singing styles, complete an enjoyable ride of roughly twenty minutes of total Metal mayhem. And the JUDAS PRIEST inspired artwork (reminds me a little bit on "Defenders Of The Faith") is just the icing on the cake. It’s by far not a coincidence that these lads are considered as England’s new hopefuls – and the quality speaks for itself here. Highlights: ‘Heatseeker’, ‘To Know Infinity’, ‘Sentinel Shakles’ and ‘Oblivion’s Call’ – ups, that’s already the entire EP but it’s really hard to pick out one or two tracks.
