DEW-SCENTED
Insurgent

I must admit, the first time I heard the band name, I decided to avoid this band for quite some time. "DEW-SCENTED"??? What the…? Shame on me for being so damn judgmental as this band kicks ass. Compilations are always hit or miss for me, and mostly sought after by the avid fans of the band. In this case, "Insurgent" glides in and out of consistency. The first three tracks are new studio songs. ‘Confronting Entropy’ starts off with scorching riffs to confirm this band means business. The pummeling drums in ‘Guided By The Dead Light’ continue the brutality, as the blistering guitars of INCUBUS’ ‘Sadistic Sinner’ show why this band can do no wrong. Tracks 4-10 are live, which is normally not a plus for me. But if these tracks are any indication of the show they put on, I’ll be there with devil horns blazing in front of the stage. German bred bands have proven time and again they’re about business. And DEW-SCENTED keeps up the tradition. Tracks 11-15 are bonus tracks from "Icarus", with tracks 16-19 bonus tracks are from "Invocation". If ‘Steady Decline’ doesn’t give you whiplash, nothing will. Overall, this compilation, though maybe not for the average listener, is well worth it for the new studio tracks. The lastability (is that even a word?) of this band knows no bounds. I’ll meet you in the front row of the next local show. For more information, check out www.dew-scented.de, www.facebook.com/dewscented, www.metalblade.com.
