Sometimes research on a Black Metal band isn’t a simple thing. In the special case of DIGIR GIDIM, any research leads to nothing. The band seems to be from planet earth and consists of two members who hide their real names behind pseudonyms, of course. At least I found out that the singer is also the only man behind TITAAN, which didn’t help me in any way. So, let’s concentrate on the music on “I Thought There Was The Sun Awaiting My Awakening”, the first album of DIGIR GIDIM. Damn, this doesn’t help either. Atmospheric Black Metal can be fine music, the same goes for epic Black Metal. The stuff from DIGIR GIDIM might be filed under these two genres, but I personally will file it under: stuff I won’t listen to again. The central problem of “I Thought There Was The Sun Awaiting My Awakening” is the fact that the songs are as long and unwieldy as the album’s title. DIGIR GIDIM offer only four tracks in nearly 50 minutes, no song is less than ten minutes in length. Despite some interesting and fine passages, the duo gets tangled up in lengthy parts and sometimes confusing breaks too often. This results in the problem that any tension gets lost after about one minute of the song. And this makes the music hard to hear and nearly impossible to enjoy. If DIGIR GIDIM take a lesson in straightening songs, they might become a very interesting act.
