New Jersey’s masters of martial arts, DIM MAK are back, releasing their 4th full-length studio album through the US-Metal label Willotip; specialized pretty much in extreme styles of Heavy Metal. "The Emergence Of Reptilian Altars", which is the album title of DIM MAK’s latest record in 6 years (their 3rd album, "Knives Of Ice", was released in 2006), ain’t conceptually about the career of Bruce Lee just like their 3 previous records were, but about reptilian conspiracy theories and Lovecraftian mythological structures. Since DIM MAK’s 3rd 2006 album, vocalist Scott Ruth has left the band, and his position has been taken by Joe Capizzi (VILLAINS, ex – THE DYING LIGHT, ex – HEMLOCK) – and the remaining core of the band has stayed the same; Shaune Kelley on guitar (ex – RIPPING CORPSE, ex – HATE ETERNAL, etc.), Scot Hornick on bass (ex – RIPPING CORPSE, ex – ALAS, etc.) and last but not least, John Longstreth on drums (also in GORGUTS, ORIGIN, ex – ANGELCORPSE, etc.). As for this new album of the band, this is a high-velocity, tricky and extremely crispy Death Metal at its best, coming straight to the listener’s face like a blood-thirsty pack of hound dogs from Hades; ripping you apart in a split of seconds. The playing of the guys is tight as hell; the intensity and aggressiveness levels cannot really be measured by any known instruments; the album’s just so packed with a constant bombardment of ripping riffs, pounding and eardrums crushing drum pattern terrorism, Joe’s truly pissed-off, monster-like death grunts and all that make this album such a splendid listening experience. Even if there’s like a bit over 30 minutes of stuff on here, believe me it’s definitely enough. 40 minutes of this ultra-aggressive, crushing and all-mangling, would kill even your dear neighbors next door. Near 50 minutes of this, would assumable start WWIII. In my humble opinion, this is DIM MAK’s finest, most technically challenging and very carefully crafted record to this very date – packed with true talent and an enormous amount of blasting energy that tends to spread every possible direction.
