This is the debut album, re-issued for the European market of this young band native from Puerto Rico. Again the name and title of the album might be tricky, I was expecting full ahead dismal Black Metal. Nope, they are playing an ultra brutal, really guttural form of Death Metal. Their promo info mentions INCANTATION as an influence, well that can be true, as they mix ultra fast blast rhythms and slow agonizing parts. Something to notice is that the lead vocals are done by a girl, but in a style that will make some men to take lessons in how to sound brutal. Obviously that there is a big limitation within the genre of ultra brutal and tyrant Death Metal. Unless you are very clever and have a lot of experience, everything sounds the same. Yeah, flat, really flat. I usually blame it to the vocals, and the sometimes useless goal to be brutal for the sake of being brutal. I mean, a band like KRISIUN have proved you can be brutal and at the same time be interesting. At least the best song of this album ‘Lapse Of Faith’ sounds more like the aforementioned Brazilian trio. Still, the band needs to improve, the vocals need some variation, like some more high pitched growls, and definitely the drummer needs to improve, as some parts just sound played like if he was getting tired and then he gains some little strength again. As any respectable Metaller, I do like brutal Metal, but there is more than just sound like a frying piece of meat in a Chinese wok. If you want to play ultra brutal Death Metal, there is a very thin line between evil sounds and failing in misery.
