DORMANTH are a melodic Death Metal band that heavily invokes the Swedish gods AMON AMARTH. Now let’s define the baseline of what’s being offered, fantastic growls throughout the album. Absolutely on point, they’re in sync with the souls of the instruments and frankly one of the highlights of the album. We need to talk about de-democratisation of double bass in melodic Death Metal, I mean come on, there’s got to be another standard route or channel. I don’t mind it, but I wish there was more variation, it doesn’t deviate from the fact that the drumming is rock solid throughout. I will go ahead and stretch that remark to the entire rhythm section of DORMANTH! It is an absolute monolith hitting you with every note in a dingy English pub on a sunny yet rainy evening. “Complete Downfall” is a mid-paced album with furious vocals and instrumentation that doesn’t lose track even for a second throughout its run time. I suppose fans of melodic Death Metal will dig this up in entirety, it could be a hit or miss for other fans. All in all, “Complete Downfall” is a decent quality melodic Death Metal album which surely could’ve been much more. Forty two minutes seems excessive for such a standard approach, could’ve surely cut down a couple of filler tracks in between. I’ll keep an eye out on what this band does next.
