DUSK
Book Of Satan

DUSK has been plaguing the world for 16 years, 16 years of satanic propaganda spread through Black Metal, lead by Shadow, who now is the sole member in the band, that now has, more or less, put Black Metal back in the drawer and has started to deliver the message through darker and more ritualistic music, more a less a sort of trance. The means are more or less the same, the music is driven forward by simplistic drum patterns, shamanic and trance inducing, together with the dark whispering vocals, spitting forth the words of Satan. To keep the energy up and interesting, DUSK utilizes keyboards in an interesting and droning way, together with a cold and blazing guitar riff here and there. Shadow has his way of writing interesting and captivating songs, when "Book Of Satan" first has hit the player, it is hard to get it off again, it demands more spins, more time and more indulging. Music as simple as what DUSK creates should perhaps lack substance, though in this case it doesn’t. There is a lot of depth, drive and a dark energy that drags the listener along the 6 tracks on the record. It is hard not to succumb into the droning that the album offers and not getting into a trance like state, while the music pumps through the headphones and into the mind and soul.
