EBAUCHE NOIRE from Belgium is the continuation of ALIENANTE DAMNATION, the project of Adrien Weber, known in the Black Metal underground as Lord Genocide / VOCIFERIAN. EBAUCHE NOIRE has a far more melodic approach. This demo cassette consists of only two tracks with a total running time like a normal full length. The first track ‘The Sun And The Moon Forever Rise’ can be compared to melodic driven Black Metal acts like newer FORGOTTEN TOMB or even older KATATONIA during their "For Funerals To Come" period. Also the influence of bands like AGALLOCH or maybe OCTOBER FALLS can be heard. The abilities to write melodic Black Metal are definitely given, also a fine sense for some nice and warm passages and melodies. The only thing is, that a good idea and melody is getting elongated and makes a good idea a bit boring after a while. The whole song and the good ideas should be focused and shortened a bit more and would work out far better then. The second track ‘Where Stars Like Tears Freeze To Crystal’ is a lot faster and more Black Metal sourced music, again very similar to older FORGOTTEN TOMB, with harsh screams and Black Metal drumming and far more freezing guitars. A lot harsher than the first track but the ideas and melodies work out a lot better here, as all is fitting together a bit more and the lead guitar works out very well and leads through this track. All in all not a bad release for the first one under this moniker and I am curious to hear, how the next material will develop.
