Even though the Greek EMBRACE OF THORNS are around for ages (1999, to be precise), they never crossed my way. To be honest, I never really checked out the bands from Greece – my fault, I know, especially now! EMBRACE OF THORNS are from Athens, and, unlike the majority of the Greek extreme Metal acts, not a pure Black Metal band. Instead, they present us a very blackened style of Death Metal with an intense dark atmosphere. And they play their music with a passion that makes “Darkness Inpenetratable” an album more than worth checking out. Variable speed, yet not too complicated and spiced with fine riffing and sometimes basic, sometimes distinct melodies. This maybe sounds not that exciting, but the composition of the songs is well balanced, thus making “Darkness Inpenetratable” a very enjoyable album for those who like their Metal dark to black. In contrary to my usual wall of words, I make things short this time. I just give you the advise to check out songs like the diversified ‘Sons Of Fire & Brimstone Levitate!’, the quite epic title track or the black hole ‘Erect Bloodstained Totems’ to find some fine dark matter!
