EMPTY
The Last Breath Of Thy Mortal Despair
(De Tenebrarum Principio)
44:22min

Spain is one of the few European countries where it’s more than difficult for me to name at least five Black Metal bands and so it’s no real surprise that I never heard of EMPTY. The band is existing since 1995 and after releasing a demo and their debut in 2001 they released their second album via De Tenebrarum Principio in March 2008. EMPTY are playing traditional Black Metal with strong roots in the first wave of Norwegian Black Metal bands of the early 90s and especially MAYHEM is without doubt a strong inspiration for this band. Honestly speaking EMPTY’s music really needs time and the full focus of the listener , all songs are 6 up to 9 minutes long and next to the traditional Black Metal parts the band is working with some dark hypnotic elements to emphasize the vastness of their creation. My first impression of this releases has dramatically changed after listening to "The Last Breath…" for nearly two weeks because the band knows how to focus on the pure Black Metal essence without walking the path of sorrow which so many bands had walked before. Nevertheless it will take some time to find the right path to EMPTY’s music but it’s for sure worth investigating. A very passionate underground release which hopefully find its listener. www.detenebrarumprincipio.eu
