It was already “Kill Grid”, the 2021 album of ENFORCED from Richmond, Virginia in the United States, which got reviews, promising them a glorious future. This five piece of true Metalheads with a solid Hardcore basic came around with a type of Thrash Metal that sounded fresh and spontaniously like almost anything else those days. Everybody noticed a lot reminiscences to SLAYER, especially in some riffs. Similarities to POWER TRIP could be found as well, especially when it comes to the voice and singing style of Knox Colby. In almost every report about these five nasty youngsters, people were agreeing to be maximum curious to see what’s about to come next from ENFORCED. And now? Here it is: “War Remains”! Is it the promised and legitime follow-up to SLAYER and POWER TRIP? With a bit of old EXHORDER? Some traces of TERROR, even of these aggressive PANTERA as they were out for punching other’s faces? To put it straight: yes, it is! Partly! The other part is, that ENFORCED have developed a very own character in their songwriting. They do their thing, they do it straight and really good and due to that it’s obvious to hear, they do not give any shit about if something reminds of a riff or sound which has been characteristic for any other band before, which is a huge name in the scene nowadays. The guitars are mainly inspired by the evil and mean sounding style of Jeff Hanneman and how he played his songs. Hearable in ‘War Remains’, ‘Ultra-Violence’ or ‘Mercy Killing Fields’. But the band also steps into the footprints of SEPULTURA and POWER TRIP by picking up the energy of a young Max Cavalera or the unforgotten Riley Gale (R.I.P.) when it comes to the vocals as hearable in ‘Hanged By My Hand’. Not to forget a straight forward sound mixing with heavy grooves, like in ‘Starve’ or ‘Avarice’. Whoever out there is into “Reign In Blood”, “Arise”, “Nightmare Logic” or “Seasons In The Abyss” should immediately listen to it. There’s a good chance, you’ll love this album. Remember: it’s not new, it’s not groundbreaking, we all have heard such riffs before. But it’s so near to the holy grail, it sounds so fresh from the source – that everybody probably wants to drink from it!
