Funeral Phantoms

Next to the chance to sell cheap Metal shirts – out of foreign production – via Ebay, the online market is in general a good indicator if it comes to the musical qualities of certain bands. So my expectation concerning the Danish Death Metal extremists EXMORTEM had not been very high based on the fact that their former five releases plus various EPs (for example with IMPENDING DOOM) are sold on the lowest levels. What can I say about “Funeral Phantoms”? The album is for sure in line with the market level because we are talking about ten uninspired Death / Black Metal songs. If the song titles would be transferred into a colour universe nobody would have a chance to differ between the red, green, black or white song. The record label is talking about a constant innovation but based on my understanding of innovation (bringing something to a new level) there is nothing to be found on this release. Sorry guys but “Funeral Phantoms” is nothing more than an extremely suitable release for any flying saucer collection. www.mightymusic.dk, www.exmortem.com
