When I got this CD, the first thought that came to my mind was – lame 08/15 Black Metal, but fuck I was totally wrong. Although FLAGELLATOR have a strong Black Metal side, they also have a serious Thrash / Heavy Metal touch, which makes them sound like JUDAS ISCARIOT being raped by MERCYFUL FATE or old DESTRUCTION. Heavy Metal riffs teamed up with the aggressive grimness of intense Black Metal give FLAGELLATOR’s debut album a fascinating, quite individual character, that captured me at instant. Listen to the opener ‘To Hell’s Servants’, ‘Souls Of The Unclean’ or the CLOVEN HOOF cover ‘Nightstalker’ to get an impression of how excellently FLAGELLATOR combine the drive of fucking Metal and the mighty feeling of blackened art. Although it is a bit sad, that the guys hiding behind this band keep themselves in the dark (I would love to interview you fuckers, send me an email!), I can recommend “Channeling The Acheron” to anyone who loves Black Metal with real riffs (!!!) yet the right feeling for cold darkness and total hatred.
