“De Tyfus, De Teerling” is the fourth album of this Black Metal band from The Netherlands, formed back in 2007, and with experienced musicians coming from many different extreme Metal backgrounds. Now, to start with, calling them Black Metal is a bit limited, as they do have a very present Rock’n’Roll and traditional Heavy Metal vibe, which recalls old BLACK SABBATH, MOTÖRHEAD and VENOM, but also a lot of BURZUM, DARK THRONE and ENSLAVED in their sound. The production is very good, clear and with the right amount of rawness, but still sounding very professional as well as a very good execution. It cannot be denied that they also have a strong Punk influence, and it’s very interesting to hear that the bass is doing more than just following the guitars. The vocals, which seem to be done in their native language, are giving them some sort of exotic touch and fitting the music very much, reminding me also in that aspect of Mikka from IMPALED NAZARENE. There is always a sense of melody in the songs, and even when they play fast, you can sense that control in that chaos. After a few listenings, I am afraid we are in form of a contender for album of the year. Yes, the cover art has me wondering what they tried to do, but make no mistake, the music is very good. There are some passages here and there that remind me of Swedish DAWN and that is not an easy thing to do. And to add insult to injury, they do have a strong AUTOPSY influence in the slower sections, making it more enjoyable. This is the type of album that grows after every listening, although for me, it trapped from the very first riffs. Again, the production is perfect for the music, and the band is able to play in any tempo, and has memorable riffs like in ‘Krengenslagers’. What a great album this is, riffs after riffs with no end. Any respectable Metal fan must get this! www.facebook.com/grafjammer, www.facebook.com/folterrecordsgermany
